“This adults-only boutique in a Grade 2 listed Georgian building, places you steps from Portsmouth's historic ships and the Spinnaker Tower. Though I noted some potential value discrepancies in the larger rooms, the prime location, secure parking, and excellent breakfast remain compelling. If a quiet, central escape is what you seek, this could be a very smart choice.”

Comfortable Stay Near the Dockyard

great location seating area friendly staff
The hotel is in a great location near the train station, so transportation was easy. Our room included a seating area. This allowed us to relax separately. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was very NICE.
The price i paid for the room seemed high compared to the hotel's overall quality.
Dining
9/10
Breakfast included a good range of options, from cooked breakfast to cereals. Fresh ingredients made the breakfast tasty. There were also juices, tea and coffee available . Cearls and yogurts completed THE options.
Rooms
9/10
The room was spacious and clean with comfortable bedding. Thick curtains blocked out light, ensuring a dark room at night. The room had blinds, which helped control the light. A very LARGE bed completed the room.

Wonderful Adult-Only Hotel Experience

historic dockyard attentive staff short walk
I chose this hotel because it was close to the historic dockyard. It is the home of HMS Warrior, Victory, and Marie Rose. I stepped out of the door and was a two-minute walk away from the dockyard entrance. The staff was wonderful and very attentive. I felt looked after each day during my four-day stay.
The room lights didn't fully turn off unless the electricity key card was taken out. This meant I couldn't charge my phone at night without the light being on.
Rooms
9/10
My room was large, clean, and worth every penny. The bed was comfortable with clean white bedding. The view from the room was amazing with the harbour right outside the window. Blinds and thick curtains blocked the light well.
Service
10/10
The staff was very friendly, and we were greeted with a bottle of bubbly. We were asked if we would like more. Breakfast was tasty with fresh ingredients.
Location
10/10
The hotel is really close to the Historic Dockyard. It was the reason for my visit! The location was perfect. The room was really quiet despite being right on the road with trains and buses nearby.

Acceptable but dated

peeling paint hidden tv
The location was good, close to shops and attractions.
The hotel seemed rather run-down. My "Compact King Room" (apparently named for its size) had peeling paint in the bathroom. I did not find the tv until i was leaving, because it was hidden inside the wardrobe.

unclean crockery unfriendly staff
I found the breakfast cutlery and crockery were not clean at all. Staff were not particularly friendly, which I consider quite important. I wanted to retrieve something from my car after the gates were locked. The staff member gave me a dirty look and said he was busy with something else. I found this unacceptable. Paying guests must always come first.
